The Chinese government has declared next Friday, August 27, 2010, a one-off regional public holiday in the Shenzhen SEZ to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the creation of the Shenzhen special economic zone.
Although generally quite rare in China, and always subject to strict central control (26-Mar-2009), some regional public holidays have been declared in the recent past, such as the Shanghai World Expo (02-Apr-2010) and the Beijing Olympics (06-Aug-2008).
