Fiji's Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama, has announced that, as a consequence of the recent passage of Hurricane Tomas, the National Youth Day public holiday, set for next Monday, March 22, 2010, has now been declared a normal workday and school day.
Fiji's Prime Minister went on to say that the National Youth Day celebrations would be held on a later date, and this despite the fact that the National Youth Day public holiday was supposed to have been canceled 2002 (06-Jan-2002), although it has been included in all official public holidays announcements since (03-Jun-2009, 21-May-2008, and 29-Mar-2007).
Recall that the Reserve Bank of Fiji (Fiji's Central Bank) recently declared Monday, March 15, 2010, a one-off public holiday for all financial institutions in Fiji (14-Mar-2010).
