The Director of Information of Fiji's Interim Government, Setaita Natai, has issued a statement to the effect that Saturday, January 1st, 2011, will not be a public holiday in Fiji.
In his statement, Director Natai goes on to say that as per the list of official 2011 Fiji public holidays, gazetted last spring (24-May-2010), the date of observance of the upcoming New Year's Day is Monday, January 3, 2011.
Recall that a similar "clarification" was issued concerning December 25, 2010, and the Christmas Day holiday (20-Dec-2010), only to be overturned a few days later (21-Dec-2010).
