The Chief Minister of the Isle of Man, Tony Brown, has announced that Friday, April 29, 2011, would be a one-off public holiday to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The decision, which had been expected (24-Nov-2010), was made yesterday by the Council of Ministers of the Isle of Man, and will be officialized by means of a Treasury order.

The UK (23-Nov-2010) and Scotland (24-Nov-2010) have already announced that April 29, 2011, would be a one-off public holiday, while Jersey is currently considering the idea (22-Nov-2010).

Recall that the Isle of Man, as well as the UK, enjoyed a one-off public holiday on July 29, 1981, to mark the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer.

A couple of months ago (10-Sep-2010), the Isle of Man Council of Ministers had already agreed to declare an extra bank holiday (aka. public holiday) in 2012, after Tynwald Day, to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
