Jamaica's Ministry of Labour and Social Security has announced that the annual, August 1st, Emancipation Day public holidays would be observed on Monday, August 2, this year.
Although the aforementioned announcement is in keeping with the provisions of the Holidays (Public General) Act, which determines the observance of public holidays in Jamaica, last year's imbroglio concerning the very same public holiday falling on a weekend (03-Apr-2009 and 02-Apr-2009) seems to have warranted an official clarification.
