Jamaica's Minister of Labour and Social Security Pearnel Charles, has announced that, after consultations with the Prime Minister and the Attorney General, Monday, December 27, 2010, had been declared a one-off public holiday in Jamaica.
This last-minute announcement came as a surprise to all observers, although it is in line with recent (30-Jul-2010, 03-Apr-2009 and 02-Apr-2009) imbroglios concerning what happens when a public holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday.
