The government of Kazakhstan has added one day, Wednesday, March 24, 2010, to this year's Novruz public holidays.
Taking into account the weekend, Kazakhstan will therefore be on public holidays, from Saturday, March 20, until Wednesday, March 24, 2010, inclusively.
The extended Novruz public holidays are a consequence of last year's amendments to Kazakhstan's Law on Holidays (On The Introduction Of Amendments To The Law On Holidays Of The Republic Of Kazakhstan), voted by Kazakhstan's Parliament, the Majilis (04-Mar-2009) in March 2009, and signed into law by Kazakhstan's President, Nursultan Nazarbayev, a month later (25-Apr-2009), too late for the change to affect the 2009 Novruz.
