The Government of Lithuania has announced the dates of official public holidays in Lithuania for the calendar year 2011.
The aforementioned announcement confirms the recent (13-Dec-2010) declaration of December 24, Christmas Eve, as an annual public holiday in Lithuania.
The practice of declaring bridge public holidays, begun in 2005 (17-Oct-2005), is maintained, although, in 2011, only one bridge public holiday is declared, as compared to 4 bridge public holidays having been declared last year (28-Dec-2009).
As such, the working Saturdays in Lithuania for the calendar year 2011 will be Saturday, February 19, and Saturday, October 31, 2011. The reason why 2 working Saturdays are declared in 2011, although only 1 corresponding bridge public holiday was declared, is that the February 19 working Saturday is in compensation for the Friday, December 24, 2010, one-off public holiday declared earlier this month (13-Dec-2010).
