The President of the Federated States of Micronesia, Emanuel (aka. Manny) Mori , has signed into law legislation that creates a new annual March 31st public holiday called "Micronesian Culture and Traditions Day".
The announcement, contained in the Press Release #0310-38, of earlier this morning, originates from Congressional Act No. 16-28, which itself was the very first bill (16-01) that came out of the 16th FSM Congress.
Note that this nationwide public holiday replaces the Culture Day regional public holiday that, until this year, was observed only in the island states of Chuuk and Pohnpei.
