Peru Confirms 5-Day Public Sector Holidays

(Posted on Friday, July 16, 2010)

Source: La República (Lima)

The Peruvian government has confirmed that the Peruvian public sector would be on holidays from Wednesday, July 28, until Sunday, August 1, 2010, on the occasion of this year's Fiestas Patrias.

The announcement is in line with the decree D.S. N° 026-2010-PCM, issued by the Presidencia del Consejo de Ministros, and entitled "Declaran días no laborables compensables para los trabajadores del Sector Público, durante el año 2010" which was issued earlier this year (17-Feb-2010).

These extra public sector holidays are deemed to be workable days (días hábiles) to be recuperated at other times during the year, as was done in past years (15-Dec-2008, 08-Feb-2008 and 15-Sep-2006).
