Earlier tonight, the Philippines National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF), announced Thursday, August 12, 2010, would be the first day of the upcoming month of Ramadan.
Although the date of the the End of Ramadan public holiday was not specified in last year's Proclamation 1841 (22-Jul-2009), declaring 10 regular public holidays, four special non-working public holidays and one special public holiday for the calendar year 2010, the forecated date of September 10, for the End of Ramadan seems very likely.
The End of Ramadan public holiday (or Eidul Fitr) was declared a one-off public holiday in 2001 (05-Nov-2001), and an annual national public holiday the year after (23-Jan-2002).
