The Solomon Islands' Police Commissioner, Peter Marshall, has announced that he was in talks with the Ministry of Home Affairs in view of having a public holiday declared for Wednesday, August 25, 2010, the date of the upcoming election of the Prime Minister.
Recall that, last month (28-Jul-2010), the Solomon Islands Ministry of Home Affairs, had announced that the upcoming National Election day, Wednesday, August 4, 2010, would be declared a national public holiday.
Next week's election of the Prime Minister is not a general election, but rather an election within the newly elected Parliament of a member to serve as Prime Minister.
