The governor of the American State of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has gotten the green light, from the San Francisco Superior Court, to cut 2 annual public sector holidays.
The number of California state public sector holidays was cut from 14 to 12 last year (04-Dec-2009 and 14-Nov-2009), with the dropping of the public sector holidays for Lincoln's Birthday (in February) and Columbus Day (in October) from the list of paid holidays.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, reports that the average number of annual paid holidays for state and local government employees, in the USA, is 11 days, while the corresponding number for the private-sector is 8 paid public holidays.
