Zambia's Secretary to the Cabinet, Joshua Kanganja, has announced that he will soon issue a circular re-stating that Monday, January 3rd, 2011, is not an official public holiday in Zambia.
Secretary Kanganja was reacting to widespread public sector absenteeism, yesterday, due to "some public workers thinking that since Christmas fell on Saturday, then Monday December 27th should be a public holiday".
Similar clarifications by Secretary Kanganja have occurred at regular intervals in the past (02-Sep-2009 and 14-Jun-2009).
