Argentina Confirms August 22 Public Holiday

(Posted on Saturday, April 30, 2011)

Source: Ministerio del Interior (República Argentina)

Late last night, Argentina's Minister of the Interior, Florencio Randazzo, confirmed that the 2011 annual public holiday commemorating the death of General José de San Martín would be moved from Monday, August 15, to Monday, August 22, 2011.

The aforementioned public holiday change was mentioned, earlier this week (28-Apr-2011), to avoid having the upcoming August 14, 2011, presidential primaries poll day, fall in the middle of a 3-day weekend, when many would be away from the place where they are registered as voters.
