Last month's announced revision of the list of public holidays in Australia's State of Queensland have now been officially gazetted, with immediate effect.
The aforementioned official announcement confirms last month's (05-Nov-2011) announcement by the Premier of the Australian State of Queensland that, beginning in 2012, the Queen's Birthday non-working public holiday would be moved from the 2nd Monday in June to the 1st Monday in October, while on the same occasion, a one-off public holiday for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee would be observed in June 2012 in Queensland.
Another part of the Queensland public holidays revision is that the the revised Holidays Act 1983 now provides for an extra public holiday to be added when Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day falls on a weekend, effective immediately (ie. as of December 2011).
