The date of Bermuda's upcoming National Heroes' Day public holiday has been confirmed as being Monday, June 20, 2011.
The Heroes' Day public holiday was established in 2007 as a replacement for Bermuda Day (19-Sep-2007), but faced with public furor, the government created a specific October date for the new Heroes' Day public holiday, starting in 2008, while cancelling the June Queen's birthday public holiday (16-Mar-2008).
Faced again with resistance to a month of June without a public holiday, the governement finally relented (09-May-2009) and Bermuda's House of Assembly passed the Public Holidays Amendment (No. 2) Act 2009 officializing the move of the National Heroes' Day public holiday from October to June (24-May-2009).
