The government of the Ivory Coast has announced that it had declared Monday, December 26, 2011, as another additional non-working public holiday (jour férié et chômé sur toute l'étendue du territoire national) to compensate the fact that Christmas Day 2011 falls on a Sunday.
The aforementioned announcement is the third time (03-Nov-2011 and 04-Aug-2011) that a day in lieu public holiday is declared, since president Ouattara finally gained control of the Ivory Coast (11-May-2011).
Apparently the Ouattara administration, contrary to his predecessor, plans to heed the décret No 96-2006 du 16 mai 2006 (16-May-2006) which amended the amends the décret No 96-205 du 16 mars 1996 déterminant la liste et le régime des jours fériés (09-May-1996) by mandating a Monday day in lieu public holiday when some of the fixed-date public holidays fall on a Sunday.
