The central bank of the Czech Republic, the Czech National Bank, has announced the twelve bank and public holidays for calendar year 2012 in the Czech Republic.
As per custom (29-Aug-2010 and 01-Oct-2009), the bank has re-iterated the fact that public holidays in the Czech Republic do not follow the "sliding holiday" concept, that is to say that when a fixed-date public holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the following Monday is a normal business day.
The aforementioned list does not contain Good Friday as a public holiday. The Czech Senate had voted a bill in late 2006 (03-Nov-2006) that would declare Good Friday an official non-working public holiday in the Czech Republic, but since then the consideration of this bill has systematically been postponed by the Czech Lower House (08-Apr-2010 and 07-Feb-2007).
