Ecuador's President, Rafael Correa Delgado, has announced that he will soon issue a decree declaring Friday, May 6, 2011, as a one-off non-working public holiday in Ecuador.

Two months ago (26-Feb-2011), Ecuador's electoral council (Consejo Nacional Electoral - CNE) has announced that it would ask the government of Ecuador to declare Friday, May 6, 2011, as a one-off public holiday, to facilitate the return of workers to their place of electoral registration in view of the Saturday, May 7, 2011, referendum.
