The Falkland Islands government has declared that Friday, April 29, 2011, the date of the upcoming UK royal wedding, would be a one-off public holiday in the Falkland Islands.
This follows a request, made late last year (04-Dec-2010), by the Exco, asking the Governor to declare April 29, 2011, the date of the wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton, a one-off public holiday in the Falkland Islands.
Currently, the UK (23-Nov-2010), Scotland (24-Nov-2010), the Cayman Islands (01-Feb-2011), the Isle of Man (10-Jan-2011), Gibraltar (06-Jan-2011), Guernsey and Alderney (26-Jan-2011), and Jersey (20-Jan-2011), have officially announced that Friday, April 29, 2011, would be a one-off public holiday.
The Turks and Caicos (21-Dec-2010), have also indicated that they are currently considering declaring Friday, April 29, 2011, as a one-off public holiday, but have, as of yet, not made any official announcement.
