The Guatemalan President, Álvaro Colom Caballeros, has declared Monday, November 7, 2011, as a one-off non-working public sector holiday in Guatemala on account of the second round of the current presidential elections.

Note that the secnd round voting is actually on Sunday, November 6, 2011,, but as is common in Latin America (06-Nov-2008), voters need to go back to their home villages to vote and a non-working public holidays is often given on the day following elections to give voters time to return to their place of employment.

A couple of months ago (07-Sep-2011), Guatemalan President, Álvaro Colom Caballeros, had also declared Monday, September 12, 2011, as a one-off non-working public sector holiday in Guatemala on account of the first round of the current presidential elections.
