India Considering April 2 CWC Public Holiday

The Chief Minister of India's State of Maharashtra (which includes Mumbai), Prithviraj Chavan, has announced that the state government is considering declaring Saturday, April 2, 2011, as a special one-off state public holiday, to allow the people of Mumbai the opportunity to watch the upcoming finals of the Cricket World Cup (CWC).

Neighboring Bangladesh has already declared 2 public holidays on account of the current Cricket World Cup championships: one on Thursday, February 17, 2011, in Dhaka, on account of the Cricket World Cup opening ceremonies (28-Jan-2011), and one on Monday, March 14, 2011, in the Chittagong port city, on account of the Cricket World Cup match between Bangladesh and the Netherlands (02-Mar-2011).
