Ireland Called To Declare August 15 Public Holiday

(Posted on Friday, August 19, 2011)

Source: The Derry Journal (Derry)

The SDLP assemblyman from East Derry, John Dallat, has called on the governments of both the Republic of Ireland and the devolved government of Northern Ireland, to declare August 15 as a new annual non-working public holiday.

Interestingly enough, assemblyman Dallat is quoted as calling the August 15 Feast of the Assumption as "the heavenly birthday of Our Lady" [sic].
