Kenyan Government spokesman, Alfred Mutua, has issued a statement declaring that Tuesday, December 27, 2011, would not be a non-working public holiday throughout Kenya, as had been widely rumoured.
In his statement, Dr. Mutua did point-out that Monday, January 2, 2012, would be a day in lieu public holiday throughout Kenya, but that "as per the New Constitution and the Public Holiday’s Act, Tuesday, December 27 will not be a public holiday. The day will be a normal working day".
Last year (23-Dec-2010), in similar circumstances, the government of Kenya had cancelled the December 27 public holiday scheduled for that year.
