At a meeting of Nepal Astrologers’ Council, last night, the council formally asked Nepal's Government to change the date of the public holiday associated with the upcoming Gaura Parba festival, from September 5, 2011, to Sunday, August 21, 2011.
The aforementioned announcement, confirming an earlier report to the Panchanga Committee, is extremely odd as the date of August 21, 2011, does not correspond to the to the day after the Amukta Bharani Saptami as it specifically states.
It is not clear how the Nepalese government will respond.
