Nicaragua Declares August 1 and 10 Public Holidays

(Posted on Wednesday, July 27, 2011)

Source: Ministerio del Trabajo de Nicaragua (MITRAB)

Nicaragua's Minister of Labour, Jeannette Chávez Gómez, has issued a communique announcing that Monday, August 1, and Wednesday, August 10, 2011, would be a fully-paid public holidays (asueto remunerado) in the city of Managua (para todas las personas que laboran exclusivamente en el municipio de Managua).

As was done in the past (30-Jul-2009), the MITRAB communique confirms that the August 1 and 10 annual public holidays are limited, geographically, to the city of Managua (the capital of Nicaragua), rather than the similarly-named, much larger, region (Departamento de Managua).
