Omani authorities have announced that the upcoming one-day public holiday for the Isra Wal Meraj would be moved from Wednesday, June 29, 2011, to Thursday, June 30, 2011.
As was done recently in the case of the Prophet's Birthday (13-Feb-2011), the aforementioned change was announced in a ministerial decision by Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri, Oman's Manpower Minister, declaring Thursday, June 30, 2011 (28th day of Rajab, 1432 AH, instead of the 27th) as the official non-working public holiday for employees at private sector establishments.
In addition, Oman's Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Civil Service Council, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidi, issued a decision declaring Wednesday, June 29, 2011 (27th day of Rajab, 1432 AH) as the official non-working public holiday for employees at ministries, public authorities, and other departments of the State's administrative apparatus.
Finally, in a later announcement, the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) announced that it had been decided that Thursday, June 30, 2011, would be an official bank holiday for all banks operating in the Sultanate and that work would resume on the following Sunday.
