Pakistan's Federal Interior Secretary, Chaudhry Qamar Zaman, has sent a recommendation that a one-off public holiday be declared on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, on account of the cricket semi-final between Pakistan and India on that date.

This year's CWC host country, Bangladesh, has already declared 2 public holidays on account of the current Cricket World Cup championships: one on Thursday, February 17, 2011, in Dhaka, on account of the Cricket World Cup opening ceremonies (28-Jan-2011), and one on Monday, March 14, 2011, in the Chittagong port city, on account of the Cricket World Cup match between Bangladesh and the Netherlands (02-Mar-2011).

And in India, the Chief Minister of India's State of Maharashtra, Prithviraj Chavan, has announced that the state government was considering declaring Saturday, April 2, 2011, as a special one-off state public holiday, to allow the people of Mumbai the opportunity to watch the upcoming finals of the Cricket World Cup (CWC).
