The government of the Philippines has issued Proclamation No. 295, s. 2011, signed by President Aquino, listing the special and regular public holidays in the Philippines for the calendar year 2012.
As was the case last year (20-Dec-2010) the aforementioned announcement of the list of 2012 Philippines public holidays is many months behind previous announcements, such as the one of 2010 public holidays in the Philippines (22-Jul-2009).
Once again, although the aforementioned Proclamation 295 makes copious reference to Republic Act 9492 (25-Jul-2007), in fact it represents a de facto reversal of most, if not all, of the "holidays economics" provisions of Republic Act 9492, "An Act Rationalizing the Celebration of National Holidays".
The most salient points of Proclamation No. 295, s. 2011 are the confirmation of the addition of a new annual public holiday (a manifestation of our solidarity with our Chinese Filipino brethren who have been part of our lives in many respects as a country and as a people) which had been promised at the beginning of this year (12-Jan-2011 and 03-Jan-2011), and the declaration of a bridge public holiday on Friday, November 2, 2012 (to give full opportunity to our people to properly observe All Saints Day with all its religious fervor).
