Qatar's Emiri Diwan has announced that the Qatari Council of Ministers had decided that public sector holidays, for ministries, other government departments, authorities and public institutions, for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr (End of Ramadan) would be from Sunday, August 28, until Monday, September 5, 2011, inclusively.
Note that, as weekends in Qatar for the public sector are Fridays and Saturdays, this means that the aformentioned public sector holidays for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr will, in fact, be from Friday, August 26, until Monday, September 5, 2011, inclusively.
Qatar often extends its annual Eid al-Fitr public sector holidays (09-Aug-2010 and 17-Sep-2008), but not systematically (18-Sep-2009).
Separate announcements about the upcoming Eid holidays are expected from the Qatar Central Bank (QCB), for banks and financial institutions under its control and from the Qatar Exchange.
UPDATE (26-aug-2011): the Qatar Exchange has announced that Qatar's stock market would be closed from August 30 to September 1, 2011, inclusively, on account of the upcoming Eid Al Fitr.
