The government of Saudi Arabia has announced that the public sector holidays break from work to mark the upcoming 2011 Eid Al-Fitr will run from Thursday, August 25 (Ramadan 25) until Saturday, September 3 (Shawwal 5), 2011.
Due to the exact line-up of the Thursday/Friday, Saudi weekend, and the 2011 extent of the End of Ramadan public sector holidays, the upcoming Eid Al-Fitr public sector holidays will only last 10 days, the shortest extent in recent years.
Last year (17-Aug-2010), the Saudi government had declared a 16-day period of public sector holidays for the End of Ramadan, and 2 years before (24-Aug-2008), government and public sector employees benefited from 13 consecutive days of public sector holidays.
