The Government of Somaliland has announced that tomorrow, Tuesday, August 30, 2011, would be the date of the first day of public holiday for the upcoming Eid Ul Fitri (End of Ramadan) public holiday.
Although the aforementioned announcement was made by the regional government of Somaliland, due to the de facto lack of a national government in Somalia, this is as close to a national announcement for Somalia as we are likely to get.
Note that, as per the statutes, Somalia only takes a one-day public holiday for the Eid Ul Fitri, while Somaliland extends the Eid Ul Fitri public holidays for a second day.
