The Public Services Commission of the Government of Sri Lanka has announced that there would be no additional public holiday on Monday, December 26, 2011, to compensate th fact that the upcoming Christmas Day public holiday falls on a Sunday.
The aforementioned announcement is in line with the official list of Sri Lankan bank holidays, public holidays, and full Moon Poya days, for the calendar year 2011, which was published in the "Gazette of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka" last summer (07-Jul-2010).
Note that, as per the official list of 2011 bank holidays released (12-Jul-2010) and amended (21-Jul-2010) last year, there will be a bank holiday on Monday, December 26, 2011, to compensate the fact that the annual Christmas Day public holiday falls on a Sunday this year.
