(Posted on Monday, February 28, 2011)

The Ugandan Electoral Commission has announced that the Government of Uganda had finally decided not to declare Tuesday, March 1st, 2011, as a one-off public holiday on the day of the postponed mayoral and the local government elections in the country's capital, Kampala.

Last week, the Ugandan mayoral elections, for which a one-off public holiday had been declared (21-Feb-2011), were canceled in Kampala due to egregious irregularities.
