The President of the présidium de la Fédération des associations islamiques du Burkina has announced that the date of the upcoming Eid al-Fitr (or Korité or End of Ramadan) and related non-working public holiday would be officially observed on Sunday, August 19, 2012.
In addition, the government of Burkina Faso has added that, as the 2012 End of Ramadan falls on a Sunday, then Monday, August 20, 2012, would also be a non-working public holiday (le lendemain est déclaré chômé et payé).
The aforementioned announcement, made at the last minute as per custom (29-Aug-2011), are in line with the "Loi n° 019-2000/AN du 27 juin 2000 portant institution de fêtes légales au Burkina Faso" (21-Jul-2000), as amended a year later (18-Jul-2001).
