The government of the Ivory Coast, through its Minister of Labour, has announced that it had declared Monday, August 6, 2012, the day before the upcoming National Day public holiday, had been declared a one-off non-working public holiday (la veille de la fête de l’indépendance est déclaré jour férié et chômé).
As per the aforementioned announcement, the declaration of Monday, August 6, 2012, as a one-off non-working public holiday only applies to the private sector, the Ministre de l’Emploi, des Affaires Sociales et de la Solidarité stating that "Pour le secteur public le lundi 06 août 2012, veille de la fête de l’indépendance, n’est pas un jour férié".
On the occasion of last year's National Day, it was August 8 which had been declared a day in lieu non-working public holiday (jour férié chômé et payé) throughout the Ivory Coast (04-Aug-2011).
