The government of the Ivory Coast, through its Ministère de l’Emploi, des Affaires Sociales et de la Solidarité Nationale, has announced that it had declared Monday, August 20, 2012, as a one-off national non-working public holiday (jour férié et chômé sur toute l'étendue du territoire national) on account of the upcoming Aïd El Fitr (End of Ramadan).

Late last night, the Conseil supérieur des imams (COSIM) had announced that the Shawwal Moon crescent had not been sighted and thus that the Aïd El Fitr (End of Ramadan) would be observed on Sunday, August 19, 2012.

As per the aforementioned announcement, the declaration of Sunday and Monday, August 19 and 20, 2012, as a one-off national non-working public holiday is based on Article 2 of the Décret n°96-205 du 07 mars 1996 (09-May-1996).
