Chile's ministro secretario general de Gobierno, Andrés Chadwick, has confirmed that Monday, September 17, 2012, would be a one-off non-working public holiday in Chile to link the annual public holidays of September 18 and 19 with the previous weekend.
Five years ago (12-Sep-2007 and 28-Aug-2007), then President Bachelet signed into law, bill 20.215 which amended the Labour code of Chile by adding a 3rd sub-paragraph to Article 35, automatically making September 17 a non-working public holiday in Chile when it falls on a Monday, and automatically making September 20 a non-working public holiday when it falls on a Friday.
