The regional government of Ecuador's municipality of Guayaquil has issued a statement to the effect that the upcoming fiestas patronales de Guayaquil public holiday would not be moved to adjoin the nearest weekend, as the recent decree moving mid-week public holidays in Ecuador only applies to nationwide public holidays.
Last spring (04-May-2012), Ecuador's Presidency released the Decreto 1162 which specfied the dates of Ecuador's non-working public holidays for 2012-2015, with most public holidays' day off moving to the nearest weekend, as per the 2003 "Ley Orgánica de Servicio Civil y Carrera Administrativa y de Unificación y Homologación de las Remuneraciones del Sector Público" (04-Dec-2003).
