Egypt's Central Bank has announced that all Egyptian banks would be closed on Sunday, January 8, 2012, which has been declared a bank holiday in Egypt on account of the upcoming Coptic Christmas public holiday.
As per the aforementioned announcement, all financial institutions including the stock exchange and depository will be closed on this date.
The declaration of a one-off bank holiday by the Central Bank of Egypt when a non-working public holiday falls on a Friday or Saturday, is common (24-Nov-2011, 20-Jul-2011 and 05-Jan-2011), though not systematic.
