Egypt's Central Bank has announced that all Egyptian banks would be closed on Sunday, February 5, 2012, which has been declared a bank holiday in Egypt on account of the upcoming Prophet's Birthday public holiday.
The declaration of a one-off bank holiday by the Central Bank of Egypt when a non-working public holiday falls on a Friday or Saturday, is common (04-Jan-2012, 24-Nov-2011, 20-Jul-2011 and 05-Jan-2011), though not systematic.
