The government of the Indian State of Karnataka has announced that it would now observe the birthday anniversary of Chatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj, also known as Shiv Jayanthi, as an annual non-working state public holiday.
Note that, in Karnataka, Shiv Jayanthi, will be observed on April 23, 2012, a different date than in Maharastra, and that the day after, April 24, 2012, is already an annual state public holiday for the Basava Jayanthi as per the list of state public holidays for the calendar year 2012, released by the Government of Karnataka, under the explanation of Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881(Act No.XXVI of 1881), at the end of last year (25-Dec-2011).
