The Indonesian Government has announced that, for once, all Indonesian Muslims would celebrate the Islamic Day of Sacrifice, or Idul Adha, on the same date, that is, Friday, October 26, 2012.
Though not systematically (18-Nov-2009), in the past (16-Jul-2012, 20-Oct-2011, 10-Nov-2010, 12-Oct-2007, and 24-Oct-2006), Indonesia's Muslims have celebrated Muslim festivals on separate dates, depending on whether they belonged to the Muhammadiyah or the Nahdlatul Ulama Muslim organisations.
Essentially, the difference stems from Nahdlatul Ulama's reliance on pseudo-observational calculations based on local events (sunset, moonset, ...), while Muhammadiyah relies on the Saudi Umm al-Qura calendar.
