The Government of Mauritius has announced that the date for the upcoming 2012 Eid ul-Fitr Public Holiday in Mauritius had been changed from its previously-announced date to Monday, August 20, 2012.
Apparently, the aforementioned announcement was made, earlier tonight, when the Jummah mosque announced that the Shawwal new Moon crescent had not been seen, and that therefore, the End of Ramadan would be observed on Monday, August 20, 2012.
Recall that, when the list of official public holidays in Mauritius for 2012 was announced (20-May-2011) and then gazetted (14-Sep-2011), we did remark that the date announced for the Eid-Ul-Fitr (End of Ramadan) in Mauritius seemed early to us (09-Sep-2010), and that we expected that it would be moved to the next day.
