The government of Nepal has announced that Monday, August 20, 2012, had been declared as a non-working public holiday on account of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr (End of Ramadan).
The aforementioned announcement is in line with last spring's (29-Mar-2012) gazetted list of official non-working public holidays in Nepal for the Nepalese year 2069 (April 2012-April 2013).
Muslim public holidays were added to the official list of Nepalese public holidays for 2008 (01-Oct-2008), after years of protests by the Muslim minority in Nepal (30-Jun-2007), and maintained for the last 3 years (09-Sep-2010 and 20-Sep-2009).
