The Nigerian Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Nwaobia Daniel, has announced that the Federal Government of Nigeria had declared Monday and Tuesday, August 20-21, 2012, as the non-working public holidays for the upcoming Eid-el-Fitri (End of Ramadan) in Nigeria.
As happened in previous years (18-Sep-2009 and 25-Sep-2008), though not systematically (24-Aug-2011 and 03-Sep-2010), the Nigerian Government moved the End of Ramadan public holidays to match the beginning of the week, and seems to have abandoned its previous practice of following the Libyan Muslim calendar (14-Sep-2007).
