In an eerie case of déjà vu, North Korean authorities have announced that beginning in 2012, the annual February 16, 2-day public holidays commemorating the birthday of recently-deceased former leader Kim Jong-il would be renamed as Kwangmyongsong (Shining Star) Day.
A similar announcement was made, 3 years after his 1994 death (01-Apr-1997), that that the April 15 public holiday commemorating Kim Il-sung's birthday would henceforth be renamed Taeyang Day (Day of the Sun).
