Pakistan's Ministry of Interior, in consultation with Karachi's Meteorological Department, has issued the expected dates for public and optional holidays for the calendar year 2012.
The aforementioned announcement continues, for the third year (03-Jan-2011 and 24-Dec-2009), the reduction of the Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) Muslim public holiday from 4 days (20-Nov-2009 and 31-Dec-2008) to the 2-day public holidays that was the norm before 2008 (16-Dec-2006).
Note that the announced dates for Ashura are quite late and that we expect the government of Pakistan to revise them before the end of November 2012.
