The government of the Philippines has announced the date of the upcoming Eid’l Fitr (End of Ramadan) in the Philippines.

As per the religious authorities' announcement, the date of the upcoming Eid’l Fitr (End of Ramadan) in the Philippines will be Saturday, August 18, 2012. The date of the corresponding non-working public holiday, however, remain to be officially announced by the government of the Philippines.

Late last year (01-Dec-2011), President Aquino signed the Proclamation No. 295, s. 2011 which lists the special and regular public holidays in the Philippines for the calendar year 2012, which included a slot to be filled-in for the Eid’l Fitr (End of Ramadan) non-working public holiday added to the list of Philippines public holidays a decade ago (23-Jan-2002).

In related public holidays news, a group of Philippines legislators has filed a resolution appealing to President Benigno Aquino III to declare October 1, 2012 as a non-working holiday to highlight the celebration of the International Year of Cooperatives.
